This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to investigate developments in new and emerging treatments for skin rejuvenation. It involves review of trends in equipment and technology in skin treatments including superficial skin needling, superficial epidermal peeling, intense pulsed light, light emitting diodes (LED) and laser.
It requires the ability to identify credible sources of information, complete research, critically analyse findings and identify opportunities for improved treatment practice.
This unit applies to skin therapists who work in beauty salons or skin clinics where skin therapy is provided.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
